Our Mission
To create an uncommon and lifelong brotherhood that develops leaders and encourages service to others for the betterment of our communities.
Our Vision
A future where every Pi Kappa Phi embraces his role as a leader, puts service before self and improves the world around him.
Despite quarantine, our undergrads have had a great first year after the re-charter.
Alumni Board Member Tom Robinson ’79 Reports on the Re-Charter of Pi Kappa Phi at Penn State
Four years ago when my wife Karen and I built our retirement home just outside of State College, little did I know that the rebirth of Alpha Mu would be on the horizon. With a few fits, starts and hiccups, the phoenix rose and Pi Kappa Phi at Penn State was re-chartered in the fall of 2019.
Life at Penn State is a bit different than when most of us attended. The same goes for Greek life. Earlier this past decade the idea of Brotherhood, Sisterhood, academics and philanthropy slowly morphed into unruliness, lack of respect for authority, dangerous hazing and mega partying. Bad press, injuries, hazing and finally a death forced the University and the Borough to strictly enforce much-needed new rules and policies to save not only the Greek system but the surrounding community.
We have all read the articles that use data and science to prove that maintaining friendships with the people you knew when you were younger as you get older can improve your health. That is not to say that keeping in touch with old friends and making plans to see each other is easy. Our careers, children, financial limitations and lack of time are all legitimate reasons for letting our relationships fall by the wayside. That being said, if there was ever a time for Penn State Pi Kapp Alumni Brothers to make the effort to reach out to old friends and try to plan a gathering or small get-together, it is now.
The GOOD NEWS is that we have not stopped our efforts to keep our Alumni connected. We have a direct line of contact to our Pi Kapp Brothers with our Alumni website www.alphamupikap.org. Check out the directory (you will need a login so if you don't have one, contact This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it. and we will get you set up) and make sure your name is in there and not on our Lost List. Send us an update and let us know what has been happening in your life and by all means, reach out to a few Brothers and try to set aside some time for a little fun and reminiscing.
