Alpha Mu welcomed 23 new members in the fall pledge class. They join 89 active brothers, 40 of whom are living in the house and bringing us to capacity this year. The chapter is also actively participating in philanthropy fundraising efforts, in hopes to finish in the top 5 Greek organizations for THON 2014.

Alpha Mu Chapter is winding down from of a dedicated and successful fall rush. More than 250 young men came through the house during the rush process, and we welcomed 23 new members in the fall 2013 pledge class. Rush activities included a "zone day" where recruits met with active brothers and toured the house, a Monday Night Football watch party, a formal invite-only dinner and final pre-bid interviews. Our goal is to recruit another eight to 10 associate members during spring rush. These new recruits add to our outstanding membership numbers, which puts us at capacity at the house.

Alpha Mu isn’t just about quantity. The quality of our brothers and new members is apparent as well.

Philanthropically, our efforts this semester have been focused on THON. Nearly 75% of our brotherhood took part in three canning weekends this semester. We are confident that our combined efforts with Alpha Chi Omega will lead to another top 5 place finish in the Greek community next year. Our goal is to improve on our total from last year and raise more than $200,000 for the Four Diamonds Fund in 2014. At the time of this publication, we were getting ready to host a new philanthropy event, modeled after successful similar events at other Pi Kapp chapters. On November 21, we set up a stationary bike in the HUB, and brothers alternated riding the bike for hour-long shirts to raise money for Push America and raise awareness for people with disabilities. Our goal for the fundraiser is $1,000. Stay tuned to for a recap of the event in the coming weeks.

On campus, Pi Kapp took the crown at Greek Sing wiht our stellar performance of American Idiot.

Academically, Pi Kapp's GPA ranks in the top 15% of fraternities, with a 3.17 average. About one-third of brothers have been named to the Dean's list in the past year and have been focusing heavily on their studies. Brothers have been able to benefit from group study thanks to the addition of tables and chairs in the basement.

Also at the house, the chapter has made some significant steps in improving its overall appearance. We are in the process of installing a new roof after encountering some leaking issues. We also purchased four new table and chair sets, which have significantly boosted the social atmosphere for the brotherhood. Additionally, we have established a house cleaning program to increase accountability and responsibility for the ongoing upkeep at the house. Brothers rotate cleaning positions each week, a process that has proven to be extremely successful.

It’s been a great year so far, and we are excited about the efficiency improvements we’ve seen thanks to our work with Alpha Management Group. We look forward to continued success, improved operations and increased accountability as we move forward.
