A Message from Alpha Mu’s Chaplain.

Hello Alumni of Alpha Mu,

My name is Aidan O’Brien, I am Alpha Mu’s current Chaplain, and I am writing to let you know that this summer I will be representing Penn State and Alpha Mu on the Journey of Hope, Pi Kappa Phi’s cross country cycling trip raising money and awareness for people with disabilities.

For those of you who may not know, the Journey of Hope began in 1987 as the single journey of one man across the country, but since then it has evolved considerably. Today, there are 3 separate routes, each starting from a different place on the west coast in June, and finishing in Washington D.C on August 10th on the steps of the Capital. Routes are comprised of a team of 20-25 cyclists, who bike an average of 70 miles each and every day, and 6 other team members who travel with the team and manage the various other affairs of the team like money, lodging, and food.

This is where I come in. I am the financial coordinator for this year’s South route, meaning that I am in charge of managing our teams budget and expenses, and also in charge of the fundraising efforts for our team. I’m the first member of the new Alpha Mu to participate in Journey of Hope, so I’m obviously incredibly excited to represent who we are and what we stand for. If you’d like to help me do that you can help by donating to my fundraising page at https://www.classy.org/fundraiser/2023304. The more we raise, the more we can give back to people with special needs, so most any amount would be much appreciated. If you have any questions or just want to talk, feel free to reach out to me at my email This email address is being protected from spambots. Sincerely,

Aidan O’Brien
